Purpose: The Board of Health is responsible for the promotion, protection, and maintenance of the public’s health. This responsibility may be achieved by (but is not limited to) development and enforcement of health laws, prevention of disease, education, and curative and rehabilitation activities.

Number of Appointments: 9 members

Term Length: 3-year terms

Speccial Requirements: Not more than four of these members shall be professional providers of health services. The remaining members shall represent consumers of health services and citizens at large. NO person shall be appointed as a member of the board for more than two consecutive full terms. For purposes of this provision, service for more than eighteen months shall be considered a full term.
