Internal Audit Committee


Purpose: The Internal Audit Committee is established pursuant to Section 15 of the Municipal Code of the City of Cincinnati and shall provide assistance to city management and City Council in fulfilling their responsibilities related to: a) The performance of the City’s Internal Audit function; b) The quality of and the City’s compliance with Internal control policies and procedures; and c) The assessment of risk faced by the City and the adequacy of risk management systems.

Number of Appointments: Council shall appoint one member of each political party represented on Council to serve on the committee. A majority of the internal audit committee shall be independent of the City of Cincinnati's management and administration. The mayor shall nominate independent members in such number that is equal to the number of political parties represented on council plus one. These nominations shall be subject to the approval of council. The city manager shall appoint a member of the city administration to act as an ex officio member of the committee.

Term Length: Members shall serve on the committee for a term of two years and may be reappointed for no more than four consecutive terms.
