Businesses Open During Riverside Drive Construction
Some Can Be Accessed Directly, Others Via a Detour

Businesses near a Riverside Drive construction zone in the East End neighborhood remain open during some temporary road closures for a major water infrastructure project.
The City of Cincinnati and Greater Cincinnati Water Works began the final phase of installing a large water transmission main on June 17, 2024. A segment of Riverside Drive, between Collins Avenue and Lumber Street, will be closed in sections over a three-month period to accommodate construction.

The work will be done in phases and involves closing a roughly 100-foot section of Riverside Drive at a single time. The work began west of Collins Avenue and is proceeding eastward toward Lumber Street.

During the project, through and local vehicle traffic will not be permitted to pass the site of active construction at any time, including days, nights, and weekends. Traffic will be rerouted to approach the construction area from the opposite side, as needed, to avoid a deep trench.

Businesses in the area remain open. Depending on where active construction is occurring, some businesses may be accessed directly, while others may require a slight detour.

The project involves the removal and replacement of a 60-inch diameter transmission main, followed by a full-width repaving of Riverside Drive. It requires a 10-foot-wide by 25-foot-deep trench excavation of the road and large construction. Water service will not be disrupted.
