Answer:
- For GCWW funded projects (CIP), the contractor must be on the approved list from city purchasing. All CIP water main work will be installed under the supervision of our GCWW inspection team.
- For private development projects, any bonded contractor may be hired to complete water main installation under the supervision of the GCWW inspection team.
- For Street improvement projects, the individual jurisdiction is responsible for determining eligibility to complete water main work with street improvements under the supervision of a GCWW inspector.
Answer:
Subdivision-type water main installations greater than 400 linear feet will now be charged an inspection fee of $3.25 per foot. This per-foot cost is for subdivision-type work only, not for replacement mains.
Subdivision-type installations will now be charged an inspection fee of $45 per tap. This per-tap cost is for subdivision-type work only.
Other related work will be charged on a per-hour basis ($46/hour), including the following.
- All water main installations less than 400 linear feet
- Extra inspection time involved with unusual installation circumstances (e.g., dry branch installation)
- Extra inspection time due to test failure
- Material inspection
- Water main replacement inspection
As has been the procedure in the past, an invoice will be sent to the contractor after construction is complete.

Answer: Chlorination and testing fees are $.50 per linear foot of water main installed.

- For private development projects, the contractor will obtain approved plans from the engineer that is working with the developer/owner on the project.
- For Street improvement projects, approved plans are provided by the individual jurisdictions completing the work.

- For small branch (2” and smaller) installation projects, you must obtain a $1000 certified tappers bond to be delivered to our engineering counter at 4747 Spring Grove Ave Cincinnati, Ohio 45232.
