Leak Adjustment Program

Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) established the Leak Adjustment Program on February 26, 2022 to help customers experiencing a leak in their private water service line. As service line repairs can be costly, a reduction in water charges equivalent to the estimated water leakage will lessen the burden of the overall expense for the leak. The program will allow one adjustment of water consumption charges every five (5) years for each GCWW account. Only leaks on private property exterior to the home or building are considered under this program. See figure 1 below:

Leak Adjustment Request Process

Customers experiencing a leak on their water service line may be eligible for a reduction in their water consumption charges. The leak must have occurred due to a break or crack in the water service line between the box meter (outdoor meter) and the building/home.

Customers must locate and repair the leak within 30 days of the first GCWW bill received showing higher than normal water usage. To learn how to locate a leak, CLICK HERE.

NOTE: Leaks from toilets or other interior fixtures and hose bibs are not eligible for a leak adjustment of water consumption charges.

How to Submit a Leak Adjustment Request Form

A request form must be submitted using the GCWW Leak Adjustment Form. A request form is only valid if complete and it includes attached documentation of the leak repair.

Proper Documentation includes:

  • a repair bill or invoice from the plumber or responsible party who repaired the leak;
  • a receipt of parts or equipment purchased to repair the leak; and/or
  • photos of the leak and the repair

Once the request form and documentation are submitted, the review process will begin. Once reviewed and approved, the water consumption charges for up to two months during the leak period will be adjusted off the account. The consumption charges adjusted will be in excess of the previous 12 month average on the account up to $1,000.

Please complete this GCWW Leak Adjustment Form and attach documentation of the leak.
