The Cincinnati Department of Transportation & Engineering (DOTE) is about to begin a $3.9 million street rehabilitation and traffic calming project on Fairbanks Avenue and Delhi Avenue in Sedamsville.

 

The street rehabilitation will include repairs to failed sections of pavement, drainage improvements, installing a retaining wall to correct a landslide, and resurfacing the pavement with an initial and final layer of asphalt. Excavation for the full depth asphalt repairs is expected to begin next week.

 

In addition to the street rehabilitation, the project includes several traffic calming components:

 

• Three sets of speed cushions to calm speeding traffic

 

• A new traffic signal and crosswalk at the Fairbanks and Delhi intersection

 

• A concrete curb extension to shorten the crosswalk at Sedam

 

• A friction treatment for the pavement in the S-curve near the Fairbanks and Delhi intersection to provide better traction during wet weather

 

• Realigning the Fairbanks and Delhi intersection and the Fairbanks and Sedam intersection

 

Through traffic will continue to be allowed during the 14-month project, though motorists should expect intermittent delays, depending on the work being performed.

 

The project is scheduled to be completed by August 4, 2024.

 

The contractor is Prus Construction. The $3.9 million project is funded with a combination of city capital, an Ohio Public Works Commission grant, and a Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) transportation infrastructure grant.
