Fore Youth! Golf Outing
The 2018 Wayne Lurix Memorial Fore Youth Golf Outing is Friday, June 8, 12:30 (shotgun start) at CRC’s Glenview Golf Course. The outing is a four-player scramble and includes lunch, 11:30 – 12:30.
Proceeds from this year’s outing will fund scholarships for youth to be part of CRC Summer Day Camps and other programs. Last year’s outing supported the building of the Wayne Lurix Memorial Nature Playscape in Evanston. The Naturescape has been completed thanks to many contributions.
Some of the golf foursomes will be made up of employees from various city departments playing to win the prestigious City Cup.

The Wayne Lurix Memorial Fore Youth Golf Outing is dedicated to Wayne Lurix, longtime beloved CRC employee, golf outing coordinator-extraordinaire and playground building guru.
Wayne joined the Cincinnati Recreation Commission family in 1994 in the office of Public Affairs. During his tenure with the department, Lurix served in a variety of roles including publicity and video production, recreation center director, development and fundraising and most recently, a member of the financial management staff as the staff liaison to the Cincinnati Recreation Foundation.
Wayne’s biggest legacy was that of volunteerism. He served for many years as an ambassador for the department as CRC’s volunteer coordinator. Under his watch, countless playgrounds were built, recreation center walls were painted and grounds landscaped. Through these efforts – especially through his involvement in Life Success Seminars – many people had the opportunity to learn about the Recreation Commission. His coordination of the very successful “1000 Hands” program saw several massive play areas built by hundreds of volunteers. To this day, children throughout the City of Cincinnati enjoy the fruits of Wayne’s efforts.
