Lifeguard
General Statement of Duties:
Responsible for the safety, supervision and discipline of all persons using deep or shallow water pool facilities. Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training / First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certifications. Administration of Emergency Oxygen and Waterpark Lifeguard certifications preferred.
Works under direct supervision of Pool Manager or Head Lifeguard. Must be willing to work other than normal work hours, and be available to work as scheduled based upon the need of the department. Must successfully pass annual lifeguard water skills review test, attend pre-season training, on -site pool training. Must be 15 years of age or older. Must wear Department of Recreation staff wear and maintain a clean appearance and positive demeanor.

Each applicant must have the following certifications:

Gate Monitor
The gate monitor is responsible for customer service and the revenue collection process under the supervision of the manager. The gate monitor is to assist with the promotion of pool programs and conduct business with patrons in a fair and impartial manner.Pool Monitor
The pool monitor is responsible for observing participant behaviors inside the pool area and surrounding areas and recognizing escalating individuals and groups of individuals, evaluating and intervening as needed including calling 911 to maintain a safe environment for participants and staff.Sprayground Attendant
Sprayground attendants observe and enforce all sprayground rules and regulations.Head Guard
The head guard is responsible for the safety and supervision of a pool facility, staff, participants, supplies and equipment. The head guard must be able to supervise staff and administer pool operations. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required.Pool Manager
The pool manager is responsible for the safety and supervision of the pool facility, staff, participants, supplies, and equipment. The manager is responsible for the entire pool operation including instructional classes, special events, programs and customer service. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required.Concession Manager
Implements the distribution of food and drink to pool patrons by providing direct service or by providing supervision of those implementing service. May assist in the planning and promotion of an item or specialized event using food. Responsible for a revenue collection process, inventory, and ordering. Must be 18 years of age. Certification from the Cincinnati Board of Health: Person-In-Charge Food Safety Training – Level 1 (unexpired) OR certification of equal or greater level from an approved State of Ohio agency (unexpired). Must have current or be able to pass American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED, Bloodbourne and First Aid certifications.

If hired, print forms and bring to the Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) Main Office located at 805 Central Ave, Ste 800, Cincinnati, OH 45202 at your scheduled appointment time and submit them to the CRC Human Resources Division (CRC HR). There are additional hire documents to be completed at your scheduled appointment.
Please inform CRC Human Resources staff if you do not live in the state of Ohio. Do not print the tax forms if you do not live in the state of Ohio.
