May 22, 2020

Update 6/28/2020

The Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) has been notified that one of its employees at the CRC Main Office (located at 805 Central Ave. 8th floor) has tested positive for COVID-19. The office was closed as soon as CRC received notification of the positive result and all employees were immediately notified. Employees were advised not to report to work.

The individual who tested positive is currently in isolation at their home. Out of respect for their privacy, CRC will not share any other personal information about the individual. The Health Department's Contact Tracing Team, Cincinnati Health Department, and Risk Management have been alerted and are working on this case with CRC leadership.

CRC and CHD are working to conduct contact tracing interviews with employees and making a concerted effort to contact all visitors who entered the CRC Main Office on June 26, 2020.

Effective June 28, 2020 the CRC Main Office is temporarily closed. During this temporary closure, the office will be deep cleaned, sanitized, and the entire building area disinfected using EPA certified products.

COVID-19 Safeguards at CRC Facilities

CRC has taken the necessary steps to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and patrons. Prior to opening the facilities earlier this spring, CRC worked with the proper agencies to ensure compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. In addition to complying with those guidelines, CRC routinely cleans the building throughout the day, sanitizes the area, and deep cleans daily. All visitors, along with staff, are required to have their temperatures checked prior to entering any CRC building.

The CRC is taking the threat of COVID-19 very seriously and continues to stress the importance of maintaining a clean area and adhering to all recommended physical distancing policies. That includes staying home if you are not feeling well, washing hands regularly, wearing face coverings, and maintaining six feet of distance between yourself and others at all times.¿

CRC Director, Daniel Betts said, “CRC, with an abundance of care, has re-opened the outdoor Tennis and Pickleball courts.  Just as with the rest of Ohio, CRC will only be gradually opening facilities under the guidance of state and local government recommendations and with the safety of our patrons and our staff as the major concern.”

Revised 5/22/20

Revised 5/21/20

17 Summer Day Camps and 7 Pools will open June 8th.  Information below:

The Cincinnati Recreation Commission has received permission to open summer day camps and pools under new safety guidelines. Starting June 8th, CRC will offer summer day camps (Camp CRC) at 17 locations.  Of the 17 sites, 10 are ODJFS licensed sites.  In accordance with Governor DeWine’s mandated practices, we will operate at a ratio of 1:9 (1 staff to 9 participants) and maintain separate classroom environments for each age group. To ensure CRC is following these ratio guidelines, the capacity at Camps CRC has been significantly reduced. As a result, some families who preregistered their children to attend Camp CRC may no longer be guaranteed participation. Over the next few days, CRC will conduct a lottery for each location whose enrollment exceeds capacity – Dunham, Oakley, Clifton and Mt. Washington. The lottery process will be totally randomized, only accessible to CRC Main Office staff and will ensure sibling are kept together.

Director of Recreation, Daniel Betts said “While we wish that we could return to operating at full capacity for summer, we must put the safety of our patrons and our staff first.  The guidelines that we have been given allows for the best environment for all of us to stay as safe as possible while still being able to operate this summer.”
