Director of Recreation – Daniel Betts
Daniel Betts is the Director of Recreation as of April 2016. He comes to CRC from Chicago, IL and has served in leadership roles within recreation and parks, higher education, US Army, nonprofit, and government organizations.
Mr. Betts is a public servant with 20 years of executive leadership experience managing personnel, property and multi-million dollar budgets. Mr. Betts is an innovative and creative leader with excellent skills in project management, strategic planning, program planning, facility management and developing public/private partnerships.
Mr. Betts’ accomplishments include but are not limited to, developing programs to address violence reduction in high crime urban areas, advancing diversity appreciation, implementing change initiative to improve work environments, developing policies and procedures to improve organizational environments. Mr. Betts is a highly motivated, results-oriented, relational leader who has excellent people skills where he has developed a proven track record in enhancing teams.
Mr. Betts holds a Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel (MS) from the School of Education at Western Illinois University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix, Denver. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Western Illinois University. Mr. Betts was tapped to join the Cook County, Bureau of Economic Development Bureau to manage property tax incentives, $30 million built in Cook County loan fund and No Cash bid real estate transactions; serving 2.5 million residents and 128 municipalities.
He currently serves as the President for the National Association of County Parks and Recreation Organizations (NAPRO) representing more than a 150 cities and municipalities. Mr. Betts is a member of the National Recreation and Park Association, National Forum for Blacks in Public Administration (NFBPA), The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and Alliance for Innovation, Transforming Local Government.
Mr. Betts will be joined in Cincinnati by his wife and two daughters.
