The Cincinnati Police Department has officially launched its latest public safety initiative—a Real-Time Crime Center in the Cloud platform designed to provide critical information that accelerates investigations and emergency responses, ultimately making the community safer.

Powered by Axon Fusus, this advanced platform includes a camera registry that allows citizens to register their security cameras online. This helps solve crimes and creates a robust public safety network across the city.

The voluntary camera registration eliminates the need for traditional door-to-door canvassing, freeing up valuable time for police officers. By registering, investigators can quickly identify potential video evidence in specific locations and know who to contact for access. Signing up is simple through the department’s self-service portal at https://connectcincinnati.org/

Both residential and commercial property owners are encouraged to participate. All registration details and any video footage shared will remain confidential and only be used during criminal investigations or emergencies.

Camera registration does not provide live video access to the police department. Instead, it offers location details for investigators to request footage if necessary. For example, in the event of a theft, police may contact a business owner to request relevant recorded footage, streamlining the evidence-gathering process.

“Building a strong partnership between our community and law enforcement is essential to maintaining public safety,” said Police Chief Teresa Theetge. “This platform enhances our ability to keep Cincinnati safe, and we encourage all security camera owners to join this effort.”

Additionally, the department is offering residents and businesses the opportunity to upgrade their video systems to include live video feeds. By installing a small CORE device, live footage can be shared with the department during emergencies to improve police response times. For privacy, this live feed can be triggered only when necessary, using a smartphone app or manual button.
