Proposed Major Amendment to PD #67 - Xavier University in Evanston
Background
The proposed Major Amendment requests to amend the existing Concept Plan and Development Program Statement to include the addition of a new College of Osteopathic Medicine building for Xavier University. The new College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) would become the State of Ohio’s eighth medical school and the first Jesuit Catholic College of Osteopathic Medicine in the United States. Xavier is the sixth-oldest Catholic and fourth-oldest Jesuit university in the United States. Osteopathic medicine is a distinct branch of medicine in the United States that focuses on the whole-person, patient-centered approach to healthcare. Xavier University plans to apply for accredited candidate status in the Spring of 2025, secure occupancy of the building in 2026, and accommodate the first academic class in the Fall of 2027.
