Ohio DoD awards $17 million in Demolition Grants for Hamilton County

The Ohio Department of Development awarded $17,689,377 to the Hamilton County Land Reutilization Corporation for demolition of commercial, industrial, and residential properties in Hamilton County. The awards include 56 projects across the county, with 45 of the projects in the City of Cincinnati.

The grant awards are a part of the Ohio Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program which provided nearly $150 million in grants for the demolition of commercial and residential buildings and revitalization of surrounding properties. The grant awards for Hamilton County were announced on December 6, 2022.

The projects awarded in the City of Cincinnati include residential properties, commercial, and industrial properties. The projects are located in twenty-six neighborhoods including: Avondale, Bond Hill, Camp Washington, Carthage, Central Business District, Clifton, College Hill, Corryville, East Price Hill, Evanston, Hartwell, Kennedy Heights, Lower Price Hill, Mt. Auburn, Mt. Washington, North Avondale, North Fairmount, Northside, Riverside, Sayler Park, Sedamsville, South Cumminsville, South Fairmount, Walnut Hills, West Price Hill, and Westwood.

Some notable Commercial and Industrial properties awarded for demolition include:

  • Grain Silos at 3140 Beekman Avenue in South Cumminsville
  • Former Powell Valves Plant at 3245 Colerain Avenue in Camp Washington
  • Former manufacturing facility at 3327 Colerain Avenue in Camp Washington
