CINCINNATI - City of Cincinnati's Office of Environment and Sustainability Honored with 2024 Inspiring Efficiency Champion Award

The City of Cincinnati Office of Environment and Sustainability (OES) has been awarded the Inspiring Efficiency Champion Award from the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA). The award, presented at the recent Midwest Energy Solutions Conference in January, acknowledges OES’s outstanding commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

Per MEEA's award statement, "OES has demonstrated exceptional dedication and leadership in the pursuit of sustainable, resilient, and equitable solutions for the city’s residents. Their notable energy efficiency initiative, WarmUp Cincy, stands out as a testament to their commitment to addressing the high energy burden experienced by Cincinnati residents.  The various WarmUp Cincy pilot programs have not only supported essential building energy efficiency upgrades but have also provided vital resident energy education, particularly in multifamily buildings. OES's role in launching and leading these initiatives has been instrumental in making energy costs more manageable for vulnerable households in Cincinnati. As cities worldwide grapple with the challenges of climate change and environmental justice, the City of Cincinnati's OES sets a commendable example of how local governments can take impactful steps to address energy disparities."

Molly Robertshaw, OES Sustainability Manager, represented OES in Chicago to accept the Inspiring Efficiency Champion Award. In her comments, Molly expressed gratitude for the recognition, highlighted the collaborative efforts that made WarmUp Cincy a success, and referenced excitement for next iteration of WarmUp Cincy efforts to come in 2024.
