No. The Ohio EPA Division of Materials and Waste Management and the U.S. Green Building Council (LEED-certification) do not consider construction and demolition debris used as alternative daily cover at a solid waste landfill to be recycled material.

No. FOG is a commercial waste. Most FOG is hauled and discharged to MSD facilities for processing. Waste haulers must also be registered with MSD and permitted to discharge restaurant grease to MSD's facilities.

No. Solid waste to be recycled goes to a legitimate recycling facility. Construction and demolition debris to be recycled goes to a construction and demolition debris processing facility.

No. Not all commercial waste containers can be placed in the City’s public right-of-way and those that can be must first obtain an open street permit.

 

  • Carts – Cannot be placed and/or stored in the right-of-way.  They must be placed behind the curbline and stored on private property.
  • Solid Waste Dumpsters – Cannot be placed and/or stored in the right-of-way. They must be placed and stored on private property. They are not eligible for open street permits.
  • Construction and Demolition Debris Roll-Offs – Can only be temporarily placed in the right-of-way upon first receiving an open street permit through the City’s DOTE.  They must otherwise be placed and stored on private property. 

 

 

Please use the City’s Customer Service Request system, CSR, to report the non-franchised hauler by using the 311Cincy! mobile app or by visiting https://cagismaps.hamilton-co.org/csr/.  At the top of the page, select “Request Service”. Under “Step 1”, enter the street address where the violation is taking place and press the search button (magnifying glass). Once the address comes up, hit “Next”.  Select “Trash, Recycling & Yard Waste” and then “Waste Franchise, complaint.” Answer the prompts and include a photo if possible. Alternatively, you may call 513-765-1212 and ask for “311”. Once the request is placed, a member of the Waste Franchise Team will take next steps to investigate.

The City recognizes Hamilton County and State of Ohio approved facility lists that are permitted and licensed or otherwise in compliance with state solid waste, construction and demolition debris, and recycling regulations. The lists provided below are intended to provide a Hamilton County overview of approved facilities, but the lists may not be inclusive, and they are subject to change. Please contact the City for approval of non-listed facilities.
