Aggregation Program
Aggregation Program FAQs
There are two ways to join the Aggregation Programs:
- Duke Energy Ohio customers who are eligible for aggregation will be "swept" into the Aggregation Program. If this happens to you, you will receive an "Opt-Out" letter notifying you of your pending enrollment and explaining the opt out process. If you do not opt-out, you will become part of the Program.
- It is possible to join the Aggregation Program at any time. Please contact the current aggregation program providers to sign-up.
If you have a contract with an electricity or natural gas provider that is outside of the City's Aggregation Program, but want to join the City’s Program, please review the terms of your current contract to determine if your current provider charges any cancellation fees.
There is no cost for eligible customers to enroll in either of the Aggregation Programs. Customers may leave the program any time without a cancellation fee.
- Households must be current in their payments to their current provider, and may not be Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP) customers.
- Residential customers who are not currently under contract with another competitive supplier and small commercial customers that consume less than 700,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year at a single location are eligible to participate. Please contact the provider above to assist you in determining your eligibility.
Duke Energy’s “Price to compare” for electricity and natural gas appears on your monthly bill. Please note that the Duke rates change monthly while the Aggregation Program rates are set for a twelve-month period.
- Savings on Electricity: To estimate what your savings per kilowatt-hour (kWh) will be through the Aggregation Program, locate the “Billing details – Electric” section on your electric bill. To the right of that section should be Duke’s Price to Compare. Subtract the Aggregation price ($0.0719) from the current Duke Price to Compare to determine your savings per kWh. Multiply that number by your total monthly usage. The final number is how much you could have saved that month through the aggregation program.
- Savings on Natural Gas: To estimate what your savings per CCF of natural gas will be through the Aggregation Program, locate the “Billing details – Gas” section on your Duke bill. To the right of that section should be Duke’s Price to Compare. Subtract the Aggregation price ($0.579) from the current Duke Price to Compare to determine your savings per CCF. Multiply that number by your total monthly usage. The final number is how much you could have saved that month through the aggregation program.
- Electricity – $0.0719 per kilowatt-hour (Rate in effect through May 2025)
