Cincinnati's Next Solicitor Appointed
Paula Boggs Muething Brings Extensive Background In Local Government
City Manager Harry Black has appointed Ms. Paula Boggs Muething, a veteran public servant, as Cincinnati’s City Solicitor. Boggs Muething will officially begin on Dec. 29.
"Paula has a wealth of success in economic and neighborhood development, and extensive experience working within the City government," City Manager Harry Black said. "She has a bright legal mind. During the selection process, it became clear that she's exactly the attorney and leader Cincinnati needs."
Black made the selection after a full and open search for this key position.
Most recently, Ms. Boggs Muething served as General Counsel and Vice President of Community Revitalization to the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority.
She's served as a key legal advisor on complex real estate and public finance transactions; advised the Port Authority Board on corporate compliance and governance matters; developed and executed redevelopment initiatives across Hamilton County; and managed operations of the Hamilton County Land Reutilization Corporation on behalf of the HCLRC Board.
At the Port, she's been instrumental in building the Port's community revitalization business line, which focuses on working with communities and stakeholders to achieve redevelopment priorities in neighborhoods such as Evanston, Walnut Hills, Lower Price Hill, East Price Hill and Avondale.
During her prior role as Senior Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Cincinnati, Ms. Boggs Muething made focusing on blight and nuisance abatement a priority and provided counsel to the offices of the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, the Police Department, the Department of Planning and Buildings, the Department of Economic and Community Development, as well as various government related boards and commissions. She has also served as an attorney at Keating, Muething & Klekamp (KMK).
"I am honored and excited that City Manager Black has appointed me as the City Solicitor. These are exciting times for our City but challenges remain. I look forward to rejoining my former colleagues in the Solicitor's Office and working with them to serve the legal needs of the City and its leadership," said Boggs Muething.
Ms. Boggs Muething received her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati, and a B.S. in Journalism and B.A. in Political Science from the University of Kentucky. Most recently, she participated in the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education program, where she studied Community Land Reform Initiatives.
Aside from her professional and academic pursuits, Ms. Boggs Muething is deeply involved in the Cincinnati community: She serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Talbert House and the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati, a board member for the Cincinnati Development Fund and the Greater Ohio Policy Center, a member of the Revitalization Steering Committee, and a mentor for the Supreme Court of Ohio Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program.
Paula currently resides Downtown.
