Assistant City Manager Virginia Tallent
Virginia Tallent was appointed as interim Assistant City Manager for the City of Cincinnati in September 2022 and assumed the role permanently in March of 2023.
In this role, she manages high-level operations and strategy for the Office of Human Services, Economic Inclusion, Water Works, the Citizen Complaint Authority, the Office of Environment & Sustainability, Office of Human Relations, Recreation Commission Liaison, Collaborative Agreement Sustainability, and Violence Reduction Initiatives. Her responsibilities will also include assisting with overseeing the Manager’s Advisory Group, Emergency Communications Center, Metropolitan Sewer District, Public Services, Transportation & Engineering and Career Pathways.
Throughout her career, Virginia has successfully developed and lead multi-sector collaborations for public service delivery. With over a decade of experience working closely with City residents, community stakeholders, and local, state, and federal regulators to solve some of the most complex housing-related problems in our region, and years of experience supporting our most vulnerable and underrepresented constituents, Virginia brings a unique and necessary set of skills to her role as Assistant City Manager.
Virginia previously served as the City of Cincinnati's Director of Human Services. In this role, she was responsible for deploying and overseeing Cincinnati's Human Services budget. She also provided strategic leadership and coordination for the City Manager's Office on homelessness prevention and violence reduction initiatives. Prior to her role as the Director of Human Services, Virginia also served as an Assistant City Solicitor from January 2018 until May 2021 in the Law Department’s Quality of Life Division. Her work there focused on eliminating nuisance and blight conditions in rental housing with an emphasis on affordable housing preservation.
Virginia has a Juris Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati College of Law (Cum Laude), and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia (Summa Cum Laude).
