Parking Violations Bureau

Please email DETER@cincinnati-oh.gov for assistance with DETER Blocks or Final Delinquency Notices.

***OUR OFFICE IS CLOSED ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2024

The City of Cincinnati Parking Violations Bureau was created pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4521 and Cincinnati Municipal Code Chapter 515.  The purpose of this office is to adjudicate non-criminal parking infractions.  These decisions can then be appealed to the Hamilton County Municipal Court.

Please note, this office is separate and independent from the Parking Enforcement Division (which issues parking infractions), Parking Facilities (which maintains meters, kiosks, signs, and garages), and the Police Impound Lot (which holds impounded vehicles).

Please follow these links for more information about DETER Registration Blocks and FAQs.

How Can I Contest a Parking Infraction?

If you contest a parking infraction, it will be submitted to the Parking Violations Bureau for review by an attorney hearing examiner.  You can either submit a written explanation or request a hearing.  Hearings are conducted via telephone or in-person.

***On-street parking violations are civil infractions.  They are NOT criminal violations, they do NOT go on your criminal record, and they do NOT create points on your license.

How Can I Pay a Parking Infraction?

If you pay a parking fine, the amount is prescribed by Cincinnati Municipal Code Section 515-11.  Failure to pay a parking fine may result in additional fees and penalties as indicated on the parking infraction.

***Once a parking infraction is contested, the parking fine will be "frozen" in the database, and no additional fees or penalties will be assessed until after a final decision is issued.
