City of Cincinnati Disparity Study: Community Listening Sessions

Date: Wednesday, July 10, 2024

Time: 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Location: Walnut Hills Branch Library Auditorium

Come join us for a community listening session as part of the upcoming City of Cincinnati Disparity Study. Your voice matters! Share your experiences and insights on supplier diversity to help shape policies and programs that promote equity and inclusion in our city for minority-owned and women-owned businesses.

Agenda

The event will begin with an overview of disparity studies, a review of the findings of the City of Cincinnati's last disparity study, as well as an overview of the timeline for the upcoming disparity study. We will then open the floor to your input, which we will use to guide the development of the next disparity study's methodology.

What is a Disparity Study?

A disparity study is an analysis conducted to determine whether there are differences between the availability of minority-owned and women-owned businesses and their utilization in public contracting and procurement. Disparity studies assess several factors that affect supplier diversity such as the kinds and sizes of contracts and the proportion of prime vs. subcontract spending across different demographic groups. The primary goal of a disparity study is to identify potential disparities and ensure that the inclusion programs are effectively promoting equal opportunities for all businesses within Cincinnati's relevant geographic market area. The findings of a disparity study help guide the development and implementation of policies and programs to address any identified gaps and promote fair and equitable business practices.

For the first time, the Department of Economic Inclusion will incorporate community input into the disparity study process. Your participation is crucial to ensuring that our efforts reflect the needs and perspectives of our community.
