Communicable Diseases
Communicable diseases and outbreaks are those that can be spread from person to person, by air, water, soil, food, or on common surfaces. They are required to be reported to local health departments for the purpose of preventing spread in the community. Cincinnati Health Department operates a Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Unit that investigates all reports received, with the exception of the following that are investigated by the Hamilton County Health Department: Sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and drug overdoses.
