Cincinnati Board of Health
The City of Cincinnati Board of Health is the governing body for The Cincinnati Health Department. The nine members are appointed by Mayor of Cincinnati and Approved by City Council. They each serve three-year terms, which are renewable. The Board is governed by its by-laws and the power granted by the Charter of the City of Cincinnati. The Board of Health is responsible for developing public health policies and providing guidance to the Health Commissioner. The Board of Health also oversees public health and financial matters, among other responsibilities.
The Board of Health is responsible for the promotion, protection, and maintenance of the public’s health. This responsibility may be achieved by (but is not limited to) development and enforcement of health laws, prevention of disease, education, and curative and rehabilitation activities.
All Board of Health meetings are on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted.

Questions from the public may be submitted to the Board of Health no later than noon on the day of the meeting via email at BOH.CLERK@cincinnati-oh.gov. Those questions will be compiled and given to the Board of Health and Health Department Administrative Staff for review and response as appropriate. The Board of Health and Staff will make a reasonable attempt to answer the questions and may combine similar questions and topics.
