Prepare For Tornadoes
- Make a preparedness kit. Periodically check that items work.
- Develop and practice a plan.
- Listen to NOAA or commercial TV/radio weather forecasts.

severe weather and emergency information, to check weather and traffic conditions. - Be prepared to take shelter immediately!
Advised Action During A Tornado
- If in a building, get to the lowest level. Put as many walls between yourself and the outside air as possible. Do not open windows!
- If in a vehicle, mobile home, or trailer, leave immediately and seek shelter in the nearest sturdy building (lowest level).
- If you ever get caught outside with no shelter during a tornado, lay flat in a trench or ditch. Never try to outrun a tornado and try to avoid flying debris (can cause injury or death).
