Welcome to the Cincinnati Fire Department (CFD)!
The CFD sets City standards for excellence and community service. One of the Department’s goals is to fill each job with a well-qualified person interested and committed to a career in firefighting and emergency medical services (EMS). We feel it is essential to give applicants a realistic description of the job and its tasks so that each person can decide if the position truly aligns with their individual passions and abilities.
Firefighters will be required to perform various tasks. These tasks vary widely and may include:
· Rescue and care of victims from various types of emergencies, including fire and other difficult situations
· Provide EMS services to the community
· Fire prevention and community risk reduction
· Hazardous materials response and containment
· Citizen and public event engagement
· Excellent customer service skills and continuing education are also required
