Incident Description:

Fire dispatch received a call at 8:29pm reporting an apartment building on fire, behind the Wendy's on
Colerain Ave. A police officer watching the traffic cameras was able to spot the fire and give a better
location and confirm a working a fire. Upon confirmation a full one alarm response was dispatched.
First arriving companies reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the 2nd floor and attic area of a 3
story apartment building. The building that was on fire is directly attached to a larger, brick apartment
buidling occupied by 9 people, and presenting a difficult exposure issue. Fire companies made an
interior attack and managed to extinguish the bulk of the fire minutes after arrival in the orignal fire
building. A second group of firefighters gained access to the exposure building and with the two
combined efforts kept the fire to only the original building. Although the main fire buidling was supposed
to be unoccupied, evidence of squaters was found, so searches were conducted while the fire was
being extinguished. The Cincinnati Fire Arson Investigation Unit is conducting an investigation to
determine cause. As of now, it is "undetermined".
