CFD units were dispatched due to a report of a fire in the basement laundry area of the North Building
at the Hamilton County Justice Center. It was reported that workers in the area had tried to use dry
chemical fire extinguishers on a laundry bin that had caught fire before leaving the basement area. On
arrival crews encountered a moderate amount of smoke coming from the basement stairwell. Once in
the basement they found a rolling laundry cart with uniforms in it that had caught fire and was currently
smoldering. A search of the basement for any victims was found to be clear. The smoldering bin was
extinguished completely by fire crews. Large fans were used to remove the remaining smoke from the
basement. There were no civilian nor firefighter injuries at this scene. The Cincinnati Fire Investigation
unit was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
