First African-American Female Lieutenant Reports for Duty

Falencia Frazier, a 15-year veteran of the Cincinnati Fire Department (CFD), reported on the morning of Nov. 9, 2015 for duty this morning as a Lieutenant for the first time. She's only the fourth female in the history of the department to hold the position.

Frazier follows in the bootsteps of three other females in the history of the CFD: Linda Pope (promoted May, 1998), Emma Unzicker (promoted April, 2001), and Melissa Arnold (promoted August, 2011).  In addition to being the fourth female to be promoted to Lieutenant, she is the first African-American female to serve in this rank.

Frazier served as a traveling Lieutenant in District 4. She spent her first tour as a first line supervisor of Ladder Company 31 in Oakley.
