Division of Fire Prevention and Community Risk Reduction
The Division of Fire Prevention and Community Risk Reduction is charged with several objectives that all center around preserving lives within the community.
This division of the fire department accomplishes this by identifying areas of fire prevention through code enforcement and education and identifying the cause and origin of fires within the city. The Division of Fire Prevention takes the lead in ensuring the installation and maintenance of fire protection equipment and systems and monitoring the storage and handling of hazardous materials and substances. We are engaged with the community on matters of fire safety education and reducing hazards that place the community at risk.
Public education is also a priority, and special attention is given to our city's community youth and seniors. This division hosts Fire Inspection Specialists, Fire Investigators, the Environmental Crime Unit and the Youth Fire Intervention personnel.
