The Cincinnati Fire Department


The Cincinnati Fire Department (CFD) was organized in 1853 and is the nation’s oldest fully paid professional fire department. The CFD provides fire suppression, first responder emergency medical services, Advanced Life Support (ALS) transport, arson investigation, fire prevention, hazardous devices and hazardous material incidents response to the seventy-seven square miles of the City of Cincinnati.

We operate 26 fire stations strategically situated throughout the city, housing 26 Engine companies; 12 Truck (Ladder) companies; 2 Heavy Rescue units; and 12 Medic Units (Advanced Life Support Transport units).  CFD also provides response coverage to 25 miles of Ohio River shoreline.
