Cincinnati Emergency Communications Center Celebrates National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week
The Cincinnati Emergency Communications Center (ECC) is celebrating the second full week of April (April 9-15) as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. This week, sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International and celebrated annually, honors the thousands of individuals who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.
Recent events have highlighted the work of telecommunications professionals at the ECC. In February, the center implemented the Police Priority Dispatch System™ to more consistently and accurately deliver safety instructions to callers and provide on-scene information to first responders.
“Every day our staff show up to provide an essential service to the residents and visitors of Cincinnati,” said ECC Director Bill Vedra. “From our 911 Call-Takers and Dispatchers to our 311Cincy Customer Service Representatives, they are all here 24/7 to serve and protect our community and I couldn’t be prouder of what the ECC has accomplished.”
Cincinnati Mayor, Aftab Pureval has recognized National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and honored the ECC’s staff by releasing an official proclamation.
