Pavement Markings & Crosswalks

Pavement Markings

Pavement Markings

Pavement markings are the painted portions of streets used to provide information about road conditions, designate vehicular lanes, crosswalks, bicycle infrastructure, and more. The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration publishes a Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices to ensure that pavement markings are uniform throughout the United States.

If pavement markings are present, but not clearly visible on a street, please call or submit a request online to have the roadway repainted.

To request a potential new location for pavement markings, please call or submit a request a request online with the location and reason for proposal so City staff can evaluate the street.

Marked Crosswalk

Marked Crosswalks

Except where prohibited by signage, it is legal for pedestrians to cross the street at all intersections. However, not all intersections have marked crosswalks. The City reserves marking crosswalks to those locations where a large number of pedestrians cross on a daily basis. If a new marked crosswalk is requested, the City will evaluate the location through a formal process.
