Work on Montgomery Road Safety Improvement Project Starts Wednesday
One of numerous road safety projects taking place across Cincinnati
CINCINNATI – Work on the Montgomery Road Safety Improvement Project is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Aug. 21. The project includes several key components:
- Full rehabilitation of Montgomery Road between Cypress Way and Coleridge Avenue;
- A new five-lane street design with rush-hour parking restrictions through the Pleasant Ridge Business District (Langdon Farm Road to Grand Vista Avenue);
- A new three-lane street design outside the Pleasant Ridge Business District that includes dedicated bike lanes on both sides of the street and parking on the south side of the street;
- Pedestrian countdown signals at every intersection;
- Intersection improvements at Montgomery/Lester and Montgomery/Kennedy that will narrow the intersections and decrease motorist speed, while shortening the crossing distance for pedestrians;
- A new signal at the intersection of Montgomery Road and Grand Vista Avenue.
Any traffic impacts related to these projects will be communicated in advance via the City’s social media accounts. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) funded a safety study of Montgomery Road between Woodford Avenue and Grand Vista Avenue in 2010. The study showed a high number of accidents with most being parked vehicles and sideswipe accidents. The City of Cincinnati utilized the safety study to leverage federal funding to address the safety issues along the entire length of Montgomery Road in Pleasant Ridge and Kennedy Heights.
