Editor's Note: Original date of Jan. 30 has been postponed due to weather. Check back for an update on the new date.
CINCINNATI – The bottom deck of the Western Hills Viaduct will close on an upcoming Saturday for inspection and scheduled maintenance. The date was originally scheduled for Jan. 30 but has been postponed due to inclement weather.
Through traffic heading east and west on the viaduct will be allowed via the top deck.
In addition, there are two associated closures:
- The ramp at exit 2B from southbound Interstate 75 to the viaduct will close to accommodate crews and equipment. Motorists may use the Western Avenue exit off I-75 south to detour.
- A short stretch of Spring Grove Avenue between Harrison and Marshall avenues also will be closed. Motorists heading south on Spring Grove will be detoured via Marshall to Central Parkway. Motorists heading north will be detoured at Harrison to Brighton Place.
Detour signage also will be posted on site to help guide motorists.
Crews will inspect the bridge and perform routine maintenance, such as sweeping, cleaning deck drains, concrete sounding checks and chipping.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution when approaching the area.
Please note: The City closes portions of the viaduct to perform routine maintenance and inspections several times a year. In addition, the Ohio Department of Transportation performs maintenance as needed on the I-75 ramps that connect to the viaduct.
