Cincinnati Bell Connector Wrap Celebrates "CINCY" Favorites

Feb 23, 2022

CINCINNATI, FEB. 24, 2021 – It’s a wrap! The fifth and final Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar to get a new exterior wrap debuts today with a design that honors our hometown sports teams and favorite foods incorporated into the letters spelling CINCY.

“Our newly wrapped fleet of streetcars creates an eye-catching ensemble that shows our creative spirit and how the arts connect us as a community, making Cincinnati and our region more vibrant,” said Matthew Hulme, City of Cincinnati Interim Streetcar Director.

Local graphic designer Alex Bond conceived the latest wrap as part of a competition by the city, ArtsWave and Cincinnati Bell. The public voted on their favorites and designs by the top vote-getters have been unveiled throughout the month.

Bond’s stylized design incorporates tiger stripes for the Bengals, baseballs for the Cincinnati Reds, soccer balls for FC Cincinnati, fruits and vegetables for Findlay Market and all things chili. Bond graduated with a degree in graphic design from the University of Dayton and currently is senior designer for Fifty West Brewing Co. in Mariemont.

The competition’s winner, local artist Brent Bilingsley, was announced in early February to coincide with the kickoff of ArtsWave’s annual campaign. Billingsley’s “WE ARE ALL HUE-MAN” design celebrates diversity within the arts and in society as depicted in the faces on children.

The design by Adoria L. Maxberry, a runner up in the competition along with Bond, highlights the convergence of visual and performing arts.

Another streetcar features images of BLINK, Cincinnati’s art, light and culture festival. The first streetcar to get a new wrap has a “Music Hall” theme. It was unveiled last September to mark the streetcar system’s fifth anniversary.

"We are grateful for the partnership with Cincinnati Bell and the city on the streetcar wraps," said ArtsWave President & CEO Alecia Kintner. "It’s wonderful timing to roll out all five newly wrapped streetcars as tens and thousands of us come together to provide critical support for the arts through our 2022 ArtsWave Campaign.”

The city owns the streetcar system. Cincinnati Bell bought naming rights at the time the streetcar began passenger service in 2016
