Reading Road Gateway Program

Under Phase I of the Reading Road Gateway Program, the Verdin Company, in conjunction with the Corbett Foundation, generously sponsored the construction of the campanile or bell tower at the intersection of Reading, Liberty, Fourteenth, and I-471. Completed in 1996, this carillon stands sentinel over one of the busiest intersections leading into both the Central Business District and Over-The-Rhine.

The City and State will construct an intimately scaled amphitheater adjacent to the carillon. Additional landscaping will also be installed to create a more urban and park-like setting for the campanile and the amphitheater as well as the rest of the Reading Road, Liberty Street and I-471 intersection.

The City and State will also install landscaping elements to define and humanize the existing vast space dedicated to meeting the needs of automotive travel around the Reading Road, Elsinore, and I-71 intersection.
