[11/18 Update] I-471 SB Lanes Closed Until Further Notice

Nov 18, 2024

A fire underneath the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge has closed the southbound lanes of I-471 at the Ohio River until further notice. Northbound traffic on the bridge is open and reduced by a single lane.

As of November 16, Pete Rose Way/Riverside Drive and adjacent sidewalks have reopened to traffic.

Please note the following road closures and detours:

  • Liberty Street access to I-471 is closed.

  • Fifth Street access to I-471 is closed.

  • U.S. 50 East and West access to I-471 is closed; U.S. 50 remains open to through traffic.

The closure of the southbound bridge lanes is causing increased traffic on Downtown streets, especially during afternoon rush hour. The Department of Transportation and Engineering (DOTE) has adjusted traffic signals at key intersections and continues to monitor traffic for additional adjustments.

Drivers are advised to plan their routes in advance and allow extra time to travel through the area, especially during rush hour.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) posts regular updates about bridge repairs and related transportation matters online at transportation.ohio.gov/471fire.
