Dixmyth Ave at West MLK Drive Closing For Two Weeks Beginning Aug. 7

CINCINNATI – The intersection of Dixmyth Avenue and West Martin Luther King Drive will be closed for two weeks beginning this Monday, Aug. 7.

Crews will work additional shifts and overnight, except during special events at nearby University of Cincinnati, to reopen the intersection by Aug. 21. The intersection had previously been scheduled to close in late July but was rescheduled.

During the closure, only emergency vehicles will be allowed access to Dixmyth from West Martin Luther King.

All other vehicles will be detoured via Clifton Avenue. Detour signs will be posted on site.

To help traffic flow along the detour route, Riddle Road will be closed to through traffic between Marshall Avenue and West Martin Luther King Drive. Motorists will be detoured via Probasco Street. Also, more space for left turns will be added on West Martin Luther King approaching its intersection with Clifton Avenue.

Crews are reconstructing the Dixmyth intersection as part of a major $6 million improvement project on West Martin Luther King between Hopple Street and Brookline Avenue just east of Clifton Avenue in Uptown.

In addition to Dixmyth, crews are improving the intersection of Clifton and West Martin Luther King, as well as widening and shifting the roadway to the north. Other improvements along West Martin Luther King include a new retaining wall on the north side of the road from Hopple to Dixmyth, new sidewalks, driveways, curbs, curb ramps and a multi-use path.

The project is slated to finish by the end of the year.
