Jun 18, 2021
WHEN: Friday, June 18, 2021, at 3:00 p.m.
WHAT: The City of Cincinnati will unveil restoration of the Black Lives Matter Mural by Black Art Speaks on Friday June 18, at 3:00 p.m. on Plum Street, in front of City Hall, with a dedication ceremony.
On May 26, 2021, Cincinnati City Council passed a funding ordinance for the purpose of restoring the Black Lives Matter Mural on Plum Street between Eighth and Ninth Streets. In June of 2020, the City of Cincinnati declared the Black Lives Matter Movement to be a matter of great importance and resolved to raise public awareness of the movement through the installation of a visual message, namely a street mural on Plum Street between Eighth and Ninth Streets to recognize and express the City’s support for the Black Lives Matter Movement.
Mural restoration was completed by Black Art Speaks, a local non-profit art collective formed to promote Black culture and expression through the uplifting of Black Artists’ voices in every form of art.
