City Prepares for Upcoming Winter Weather 2/18/25
Feb 18, 2025
The Department of Public Services is gearing up for more anticipated winter weather this week. Snow will arrive after 12 a.m. Wednesday and continue through the morning. More light snow showers will move into Greater Cincinnati Wednesday night into Thursday, with temperatures falling into the low teens.
In response to the forecast, DPS crews have begun pretreating roadways with liquid treatments and will start 12-hour shifts tonight at 7 PM. Crews will maintain these 12-hour shifts throughout the winter event to ensure local roadways remain safe and passable. Weather conditions are variable and DPS will adjust its staffing and operational plans accordingly.
Residents are reminded to exercise caution while driving during winter events. With low temperatures, slick spots are possible in areas prone to black ice – including bridges, tunnels, hills and underpasses.
Pothole Information
Harsh winter weather often leads to an increase in potholes due to the freeze-thaw cycle. When water seeps into cracks in the pavement and freezes, it expands, causing the pavement to break apart. This process can create potholes, which can be hazardous for drivers.
To help us address this issue promptly, we encourage residents to report any potholes they encounter. You can do this by calling 311 or by downloading the 311Cincy app. Reporting potholes helps us maintain the quality and safety of our roadways.
