City Launches New Short Term Rental Registration Portal

CINCINNATI – The City of Cincinnati has launched a new web-based platform to help short term rental operators register their properties in a matter of minutes.

Effective today (July 1), all operators of short term rentals in Cincinnati must register their rental properties with the City of Cincinnati prior to operation. To help streamline the process, the City Administration, in partnership with the Office of Performance and Data Analytics, created a portal on the Open Counter platform to serve as a one-stop shop for registration.

The entire application can be completed online in a few minutes. A user can also file all necessary paperwork and pay related registration fees online, meaning they can complete the entire process without having to make a phone call or come down to City Hall. Users can save their account to make registering additional properties as easy as possible.

Registration is valid for three years from the date of issuance.

The registration requirement for short term rentals applies to residential dwellings offered for rent for short periods through an online platform such as Airbnb or HomeAway. More detailed information about what properties may be subject to the requirement is available in Cincinnati Municipal Code Chapter 856.

You can access the registration portal and find more information at the following link: https://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/finance/short-term-rental/
