Department of Economic Inclusion Hosts 2nd Annual Business Enterprise EXPO
Sep 29, 2023
Hundreds of businesses owners from across Greater Cincinnati will converge on the Duke Energy Convention Center this Friday, September 29, to take part in the 2nd Annual Department of Economic Inclusion Business Enterprise EXPO. The EXPO allows city-certified businesses to showcase what they do to businesses all across the region. In addition, this year’s event is also affording businesses the chance to meet one-on-one with procurement representatives to discuss real opportunities from the Western Hills Viaduct and opportunities with suppliers like Kroger and P&G.
“At a time when we are working to launch extraordinary economic growth, it’s as important as ever to make sure we have a strong pipeline of diverse, talented business leaders taking the helm. By bringing our largest institutions together with certified businesses, the EXPO is a powerful opportunity to drive better inclusion and create partnerships that help all of us win,” said Mayor Aftab.
“Bringing the EXPO back for a second year demonstrates how impactful this kind of networking can be,” said City Manager Sheryl Long. “When business owners have the opportunity to interact directly with the City, with our region’s largest suppliers, and with each other, it’s a game-changer.”
This is just one of several programs offered by DEI as it works to ensure economic opportunity, inclusion, and access for all citizens seeking to do business with the City of Cincinnati.
“DEI is continuing to lead the way when it comes to inclusion across the City,” Interim DEI Director Laura Castillo said. “Not only does the City of Cincinnati use our certified businesses, but other companies, universities and even Hamilton County turn to us to help increase their inclusion goals. Our partnerships are truly making a difference.”
More than 400 business owners have registered to take part in the EXPO, which is being sponsored by Turner Construction and 3CDC. Other businesses scheduled to be on hand include Fifth Third Bank, P&G, Kroger, and Walsh/Kokosing, along with more than 75 city-certified firms, and another 20+ community partners.
DEI offers other resources throughout the year including access to city contracts and bidding opportunities, marketing & branding assistance, workforce development, and monthly business development training sessions.
