36th Annual Juneteenth Festival
The family-friendly free event in Eden Park features festivities for all ages. The Juneteenth Festival kicks off at noon on Saturday with a parade of flags representing the African diaspora—the origins and forced destinations of Africans during a slave trade that lasted for more than 400 years. The festival continues through Saturday afternoon and evening with lots of organized activities for kids, including crafts, books, games, and horseback rides. Over 25 performances on two stages reflecting the shared heritage within the African diaspora-- blues, jazz, R&B, Latin jazz, African dancing, and the Voices of Freedom poetry slam.
June 17 events: Celebrate the End of Slavery, including music, children’s area, history, historical re-enactors, a health screening, vendors, food, and more. ChessTime will host the “First Annual Juneteenth Chess Tournament” 10am-6:30pm.
June 18 events: Father’s Day Concert. The Father’s Day concert presents a variety of inspirational and spiritual music, praise, and dancing in Seasongood Pavilion. 2-6pm
