Available positions:

Events Specialist | $23,982.40 - $31,824.00 Annually

Provide customers with information and materials regarding the event rental process. Examples include permit applications, fee schedules, and rules and regulations of the Cincinnati Park Board and the City of Cincinnati. Flexible starting time March/April through fall. Up to 40 hours per week, occasional evenings or Saturdays will be required. Enrolled in City Retirement System.

 

Krohn Conservatory Customer Service Specialist | $23,982.40 - $31,824.00 Annually

Greet visitors; provide information about Cincinnati Parks and Krohn Conservatory, in particular special events. Answer visitor center phones, operate multi-line phone system (transfer, hold calls), give out accurate information, directions, keep record of phone calls. Cashier duties such as sales, handling cash, balancing register, filling out deposit slips.  Take inventory, fill out order forms, check deliveries. Assist with daily release of butterflies. Other related duties as assigned. Flexible starting time March/April through fall. Up to 40 hours per week, occasional evening or Saturdays will be required. Enrolled in City Retirement System.

 

Municipal Worker | $32,448.00 Annually 

There are two types of positions available as a Municipal Worker.

  1. Seasonal Maintenance Worker: 40 hours/week, overtime opportunities available, enrolled in City Retirement System
    • Mowing lawns, hand trimming bushes, clearing weeds, litter pick-up and trash collection, mulching, raking, and blowing off debris from plant beds, operation of motorized equipment within parks and the city.
  2.  Seasonal Horticultural Technician: Flexible starting time March/April through fall, up to 40 hours per week, enrolled in City Retirement System
    • Assists Horticulturist with bed preparation, mulching, weeding, pruning, planting, deadheading, trash pickup in beds, raking debris, fertilizing and other chemical applications and watering, assist with the design, planting, and maintenance of plants in public areas.
Natural Resources Parks Specialist | $23,982.40 - $31,824.00 Annually

There are three types of positions available within Natural Resources. All positions work 30-40 hours per week. Depending on the section, work hours range between 6:30am to 5:30pm, may be required to work weekends and holidays. Enrolled in City Retirment System.

  1. Seasonal Florist for Greenspace Program
    • Design, install, and maintain 3 seasonal displays per year in business district flowerpots. Drive city pickup truck with large water tank, operate gas-powered pump to water each pot 3 times per week, planting, fertilizing, pruning, deadheading, weeding, replacing soil as needed, dividing plants, removing litter and related tasks.  Assists Florist/Horticulturist with all maintenance and planting tasks including: landscape bed preparation, mulching, weeding, pruning, planting of various plant material and plant removal; deadheading, trash pickup in beds, racking up debris, fertilizing and other chemical applications, and watering. Will be exposed to weather and various horticultural chemicals.
  2. Conservation and Land Management Technicians 
    • Inspect and maintain parks trail system, remove invasive species using herbicide, a chain saw, weed whip, and/or machete, collect native seed for propagation and use in new prairie installations, plant native trees, shrubs and herbaceous understory material, monitor and report ongoing projects, serve as site-leader on volunteer workdays. 
  3. Urban Forestry Technician
    • Care for trees by brush chipping, roping down branches, and/or bucking up ground material, young tree pruning, watering, and fertilization, assist Urban Forestry Staff with tree inventories for the preparation of contracted preventive maintenance cycle, work alongside one of Park’s certified arborists to collect tree data using Arc Collector.
Outreach Naturalist | $23,982.40 - $31,824.00 Annually

Educate people of all ages and backgrounds about the ecological relationships, natural resources and items/sites of historical importance found in Cincinnati parks. Assist in protecting the ecology and habitats within the parks and assist in the development and implementation of nature education programs within the Cincinnati Parks. Enrolled in City Retirement System.

Seasonal Florist | $23,982.40 - $31,824.00 Annually

Assists Florist/Horticulturist with all maintenance and planting tasks including: landscape bed preparation, mulching, weeding, pruning, planting of various plant material and plant removal; deadheading, trash pickup in beds, raking up debris, fertilizing and other chemical applications, and watering. Will be exposed to weather and various horticultural chemicals. 40 hours per week, overtime opportunities available, Enrolled in City Retirement System.

Waterfront Audio Visual Specialist | $23,982.40 - $31,824.00 Annually

Provide audio and staging services at Sawyer Point and set up stages and operating audio systems. The primary responsibility of the Parks Specialist is to ensure that audio services are provided properly, safely and in accordance with the policies & procedures of the City of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Park Board.
