Put Trash In Its Place - Keep Parks Clean for Fourth of July
- Jul 1, 2022
Happy Fourth of July weekend! We are excited for a weekend full of fun at various parks, some of which include firework shows. We also love seeing families and friends gather together at Parks to celebrate, from picnics to grill outs. As much as we encourage utilizing parks to celebrate and come together, we must ask and remind all park visitors to clean up after yourselves and leave the park beautiful for others that plan to spend the day there.
Every year during this time, our staff spends countless hours picking up trash from a large percentage of our parks. Please help us out by throwing your trash away and not littering. Every park is equipped with one or more trash cans, making it easy to discard any waste from festivities.
*Park Board Rule 6 states that no person shall discard or throw paper, lunch boxes, refuse, or litter on any park property, but the same shall be placed in receptacles provided for such purposes.
Why Littering is Bad:
1. It impacts wildlife
2. Staff spend more time picking up trash instead of focusing on more important duties
3. It impacts other park goers
We hope you enjoy your holiday and we thank you in advance for keeping parks looking beautiful and not littering. If we all do our part, each of us will benefit from clean outdoor spaces.
