Cincy Parks' Historical Archives Wouldn't Be The Same Without Volunteers

Are you aware of one of the hidden treasures of Cincinnati Parks?  At the end of a short street in O’Bryonville, there is a small nature preserve named Bettman Natural Resource Center.  Inside the building you’ll find the Cincinnati Parks Library and Archives, a rich collection of materials related to Parks’ history, nature education, and the natural world. These materials include photographs, documents, maps, books, and an array of other items, and are available to the community for research, information, and general interest.  Visitors to the Library have included local folks and people from all over the country.  The Library is open to the public by appointment.  Please call 513-321-6070 or email Bettman.Library-Parks@cincinnati-oh.gov for further information.

The Cincinnati Parks Library and Archives is run by dedicated volunteer, Vicki Newell. Vicki, a retired Cincinnati Public librarian, has volunteered for over 14 years with Cincinnati Parks. We couldn’t host this great resource to the public without the dedicated work of volunteers like Vicki!

One of the latest researchers is Jim Steiner who published the book Mount Adams: A History.  This lively volume is filled with photographs, maps, portraits, and interesting “Author’s Notes” covering the long history of this Cincinnati neighborhood.
