Bathrooms Open for 2023 Season

Tomorrow, April 15th, our restrooms will officially open for the season. We are especially excited to announce that the comfort stations at Alms Park, Fulton in Eden Park, French Park, Smale Riverfront Park Roebling Bridge and Mt. The Echo will be fully opening after recent closures were required due to serious, historical plumbing problems.

Outdated infrastructure resulting in failed sewer pipes led to the closure of these four restrooms for extended periods over the last few years. In fact, the Alms restrooms have been closed for almost 3 years. Issues like broken bathrooms directly impact our park visitors and highlight the challenges faced by Cincinnati Parks, which struggles with $70 million in deferred maintenance throughout our 5,000 acres of managed park land and amenities.  However, from our Board of Park Commissioners to our leadership team right through our entire staff, we are working hard to mobilize resources to make improvements. 

These particular restroom repairs cost roughly $400,000, and were made available as City Capital funds by the City Administration, the Mayor and City Council. With their continued support, we look forward to continuing to successfully address these types of much-needed repairs, meaning so much to our park patrons.

Staff highlight - French Park Restroom Repair by Stephen Cloud, Scott Pavone and Mike Sizemore

The French Park restrooms were in need of roof repair and a new paint job. Stephen Cloud, Scott Pavone and Mike Sizemore, all of Parks Facilites and Maintenance, noticed this need and spent time fixing it for the community. 

Stephen stated "Myself, Scott Pavone, and Mike Sizemore fixed the entire perimeter fascia directly under the standing seam roof along with miscellaneous ceiling boards as well as paint the entire comfort station. It was a lot of work but many people from the public were very appreciative, and we were glad we received such positive feedback. I pride myself on craftsmanship and attention to detail and Mike and Scott were an integral part of seeing this project through to fruition."
