All Cincinnati Parks will be FREE for the solar eclipse on April 8

Put your wallets and Apple Pay away and your protective glasses on, we’ve got an eclipse to watch.

In just days, Cincinnati will be filled with spectators gazing up at the sky to catch sight of a solar eclipse that will happen just once in our lifetime (at least in this part of the USA). If you’re one of many wanting to experience this phenomenon, we have good news for you. For your ease of viewing all Cincinnati parks will be free and open to the public on April 8 from noon to 4 p.m. courtesy of The Cincinnati Parks Foundation. Yes, you heard that correctly. No payment necessary to enter any of our parks for the much-awaited solar eclipse. Put your money away and your protective glasses on, we’ve got an eclipse to watch.

Here at Cincinnati Parks, we strive to provide free opportunities for visitors when possible, and April 8 will be your lucky day! Although ALL parks will be free, consider visiting Smale Riverfront Park’s Schmidlapp Event Lawn for our Great Eclipse in the Sky event in partnership with Cincinnati Parks Foundation and Moerlein Lager House. There will be music, vendors, and glasses for purchase, which will benefit the Cincinnati Parks Foundation.

April 1 Update: Oh, and one last thing before you begin to plan your viewing spot. Not only are Cincinnati Parks free for the solar eclipse, they are ALWAYS free. Did we trick you? It is April Fool's Day after all. If you plan to be in Cincinnati for the eclipse, be sure to invite friends and family to view it from a Cincinnati Park. Our Parks are the perfect place to gather, enjoy the outdoors and, of course, it’s free, always, all year long.
