Commercial Permit Guide
A commercial building permit is required for most non-residential construction, including new construction, remodels, additions, tenant improvements and change of use. Commercial projects occur on properly zoned property and do not include one, two or three family dwelling units. Any contractor performing work in the City of Cincinnati on a commercial building must be registered in their particular field to perform the work. Permits are issued and inspections are performed for commercial projects to ensure the safety of the building and its inhabitants. Construction documents are reviewed for compliance with the 2007 Ohio Building Code. For a complete listing of codes and regulations click on the link provided.
The commercial permitting process is relatively the same for the applicant working on a one, two and three family home. However, the permitting process for a one, two and three family home will typically occur in a shorter amount of time.
