Step 7: Submitting Your Application & Documents

Digitally

To reduce production and environmental costs, we strongly encourage you to submit a digital version of building plans (via CDs, DVDs, etc.). If you submit a digital version of your plans, the scanning fee is waived.

Note: You also must submit 2 sets of hard copies of plans (properly stamped by a registered architect or engineer) with your digital version.

In Person

You can apply for permits, certificates or licenses at the Permit Center.

7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday through Friday.

You must submit:

  1. Completed application and supporting documentation (structural, energy, soils analysis)
  2. Three (3) sets of documents, drawings and specifications of the proposed work (where applicable).

All permit applications will be assessed a one-time non-refundable fee, which is due when you submit your application. (This fee does not apply to Elevator, Plumbing and HVAC repair/replacement applications that don't require plans).

Online

You can apply and pay for certain permits and licenses online via ezTrak.

Currently-available licenses and permits are:

  • Deck Permits
  • Mechanical Permits
  • Plumbing Repair Permits
  • Journeyman Renewal Licenses
  • Elevator Invoices
  • Visit ezTrak to apply

By Fax

Fax-A-Permit service is designed to provide easy and rapid access for obtaining permits for commercial and residential work that doesn't require drawings.

For example, permits for furnace or air conditioning repairs/replacement, building repairs, and plumbing work can be faxed.

To use this service, you must have:

  1. a permit application that doesn't require plans
  2. a fax number for receiving the permit
  3. an active trust account to pay for the permit

As an alternative to a trust account, you can telephone us at 513-352-3271 with your credit card number and expiration date.

If we receive your faxed applications by 9 a.m. on a City workday, we will fax a permit to you by 4 p.m. the same day.
