Revised Collection Hours, Cooling Centers Announced Due To Extreme Heat
Residential Trash Collection Beginning At 5:30am; Cool Centers Opened At Rec Centers
The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch (predicted heat indices of 100 degrees to 104 degrees F with overnight lows of 80 degrees F of higher) for today through Friday evening, July 19, 2013.
For the safety and protection of sanitation workers, beginning July 19, Public Services crews will begin trash collection at 5:30 a.m. indefinitely throughout the remainder of the summer. Citizens should prepare all trash and place at the curb by 5:30 a.m.
"As always we are concerned about the health and safety of our employees," said Public Services Director Mike Robinson. "Having earlier work hours allows us to take every precaution for our employees to finish trash routes during the coolest parts of the day."
Also, Cincinnati Recreation Centers will be open during normal hours for citizens to serve as "Cool Centers" for heat relief. They will provide a cool, comfortable place to sit and rest.
